    Multi-TRxPs for Industrial Automation with 5G URLLC Requirements

    The Fifth Generation (5G) Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) is envisioned to be one of the most promising drivers for many of the emerging use cases, including industrial automation. In this study, a factory scenario with mobile robots connected via a 5G network with two indoor cells is analyzed. The aim of this study is to analyze how URLLC requirements can be met with the aid of multi-Transmission Reception Points (TRxPs), for a scenario, which is interference limited. By means of simulations, it is shown that availability and reliability can be significantly improved by using multi-TRxPs, especially when the network becomes more loaded. In fact, optimized usage of multi-TRxPs can allow the factory to support a higher capacity while still meeting URLLC requirements. The results indicate that the choice of the number of TRxPs, which simultaneously transmit to a UE, and the locations of the TRxPs around the factory, is of high importance. A poor choice could worsen interference and lower reliability. The general conclusion is that it is best to deploy many TRxPs, but have the UE receive data from only one or maximum two at a time. Additionally, the TRxPs should be distributed enough in the factory to be able to properly improve the received signal, but far enough from the TRxPs of the other cell to limit the additional interference caused

    The Effect of Sequent Input on Speech Accuracy and Fluency in Adults at the Intermediate Level

    To help students achieve their potential, input/feedback must be sequenced by the level of complexity that immediately follows the student\u27s actual developmental level. I assert that effective input/feedback has to follow a set of suggested but not directly expressed rules that represent basic criteria for the development of communicative competence. This study made these criteria explicit, and converted them into ready-for-use input/feedback specifications. Such specifications allow instructors to provide effective remedies to treat particular interlanguage errors. Thus, it is important that instructors understand how to sequence input/feedback to target students differentially in response to their different proficiency levels. The study was based on the pretest-posttest control-group design with 15 participants in each of the experimental and control groups. The intervention treatment for the experimental group was provided through sequenced inputs (SI) whereas the control group did not receive a treatment. The posttest findings revealed that the intensity of speech inaccuracy in the experimental group showed a statistically significant difference compared to the control group in word-order errors and lexical-choice errors. However, there was no significant difference in the intensity of disfluency (total pausing time, length of run, and speech rates) before and after the intervention between the experimental and control groups. These results suggest SI could be used as one instructional methodology to develop communicative competence. Insights gleaned from the data analysis are made accessible in the form of (a) capsulated text typology providing familiarity with various input contexts, and (b) an analogical-reasoning method indicating trends of how certain interlanguage errors are often treated, based on gaining insights into possible treatments from existing facts in the same or dissimilar contexts. The key contributions from this work are (a) an empirical data set of input/feedback specifications to target students differentially in response to their actual developmental levels, (b) an insightful comparison of SI feedback on the basis of detailed text-typology criteria, (c) documentation of SI feedback correlated with detailed text-typology criteria, and (d) documented input feedback insights

    A STUDY ON THE CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT AMONG UNIVERSITY GRADUATES IN KENYA: A CASE OF GARISSA COUNTY, KENYA

    Unemployment is a major problem in Kenya. It has made many young university graduates demoralized. Unemployment rate has risen so high that in every 10 young people, close to 4 are jobless with requisite qualifications. Successive governments have done little to arrest the situation. This research was done to understand the causes of unemployment in Kenya and the solutions that can be put in place to mitigate the problem. The effects of unemployment and the relationship between creation of opportunities and the growth of economy. The research found out that unemployment in Kenya is very high. This shows lack of confidence they have the system in place. The main effects of unemployment are crime, corruption, nepotism and favourism, high dependency and drug abuse. Being a job creator rather than a job seeker is the major solution of unemployment in Kenya. The research also found out that aligning the education curriculum in line with the demand of the market is paramount and should be hastened. In conclusion, unemployment has caused a lot of problems in Kenya. The research recommended a raft of measures to reduce the issue of unemployment in the country. Encourage the youth to be job creators and not job seekers only. Universities should play an important role in this case. Universities should develop courses that are relevant and demand driven. Duplication of courses with fewer demands should be minimized as this will flood graduates with similar courses that are not needed at all. Technical education should be enhanced and proper mechanisms put in place to sponsor and encourage students to take up these courses. Strict regulations should be enacted to fight corruption, nepotism and favourism. Kenya needs a practical and proactive solution for this monster.  Article visualizations

    Evaluation of the quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease: using two measuring assessment tools

    Background: Coronary heart diseases (CHD) are considered to be as a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQL) test and assessment is considered as a major an important measuring tool of the disease effects results and other variables related to the patient’s life.Objectives: The purpose of this observational study is to assess and compare the quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease.Materials and Methods: This study was conducted at Al-shaab Teaching Hospital, where 100 patients with definite diagnosis of CHD were responded. The data was collected using two quality of life assessment tools: the Seattle angina questionnaire (SAQ) (disease specific measuring tool) and the SF-36 questionnaire (generic measuring tool).Results: Based on the 1) SAQ, out of the 50 patients who were recruited, the patients physical functioning in terms of activities performed 58% said “not limited” and 42% said “limited” in case of chest pain 26% noted “much more often” while 10% “much less often” Based on the 2) SF-36, out of the 50 patients who were recruited, the patients physical functioning in terms of activates performed 26% said “no, not limited” and 74% said “limited”. 34% had felt full of life “all the time” while 10% “none of the time”.Conclusion: HRQL measurement gives health care providers an additional tool for the assessment of the impact of specific clinical decisions on the health status of patients. Of the SAQ and SF-36, the SAQ offers more reliable assessment of quality of life.Keywords: Coronary heart Disease, measuring assessment tool

This paper addresses the issue of daylight effects factors that supports efficiency of interiors in school building by using specific quality of design characteristics that related building composition in one hand , and elements of classes daylight in the other. The objective of this paper is to determine the key design properties affecting to achieves healthy spatial environment , which are related on two main daylight factors :solarization average for building at all ,and homogeneity of daylight at work surface in classroom space . The study employed (Velux Daylight Visualizer – 2012) in deign research methodology to evaluate three school building types that used in Mosul city .Finding of this study confirmed that the deign properties related two factors of daylight have effective role in creating healthy interiors and increase educational productivity.     Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Third Editon (WISC-III) - is one of the most important diagnostic tools in special education all over the world, particularly in the area of gifted and talented Identification.This study aimed to derive local norms for some subscales of WISC-III at schools for gifted students in Khartoum State. 1384 of candidates for admission to gifted schools participated in the study: 44.4% males and 55.6% females. Statistical indices for performance on the scale and its subscales were derived. Weighed scores for verbal and performance subscales were also extracted. In addition, deviated intelligence quotients were extracted for verbal and performance subscales, and total scale. Implications and recommendations were offered

    CITIZENS’ PERCEPTIONS ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COUNTER TERRORISM MECHANISMS USED BY THE GOVERNMENT: A CASE OF NORTHEASTERN REGION, KENYA

    Terrorism in Kenya in particular and the world in general has become a huge mysterious and unresolved phenomenon. It has given governments nightmares. It often shapes up and assumes the behavior of a chameleon and strikes from the least expected angle. Many people lost their lives here in Kenya and across the globe. A lot of resources and intelligence were applied by even the relatively most powerful nations in the world but could not eventually succeed. It is an emerging and evolving issue. Terrorists employ different strategies besides the traditional forms. For example on the Garrisa University attack during which 148 students were killed, Kenyan born nationals were used to carry out the attacks, one of the attackers being a law graduate from a local university. These new strategies increasingly show that terrorists are recruiting, training and executing attacks within Kenya mercilessly. In light of the above, this study was initiated to understand the various modalities the government uses to counter terrorism, seeks to review these strategies and suggest diversified, comprehensive, multidimensional and all-inclusive strategies of counter terrorism, in Kenya and the Horn of Africa. The study was carried out in the Northeastern counties of Mandera, Wajir and Garissa targeting 120 respondents. The respondents were randomly selected with adherence to the diversity in the population. The study found out that the strategies used by the government to combat terrorism is not effective and has not achieved its objectives. The government uses militaristic form which has made the residents not cooperate with the security apparatus. The research suggests that the government changes its tactics and makes it more participative and collaborative.  Article visualizations

    Mental health condition of physicians working frontline with COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh

    Background The impact of the unpredictable COVID-19 pandemic had triggered new challenges for mental health. This quick survey aimed to identify the mental health status of physicians who served the people during COVID-19 in Bangladesh. Methodology The cross sectional survey was conducted adopting a quantitative approach and using an online questionnaire through Facebook Platform Group. Data was collected from August-October, 2020, on socio-demographic status, information on COVID-19 and questionnaires about Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). A total of 395 participants were enrolled from all eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. Result Our study reported a higher prevalence of depression (55.3%), anxiety (35.2%), and stress (48.4%) among 347 participants. Female physicians were found to have more stress (OR = 2.16, 95% CI: 1.09 - 4.30) compared to the male. Physicians who were previously diagnosed as mentally ill were found to be significantly more depressed (OR = 3.45, 95% CI: 1.07 - 11.10) and stressed (OR = 4.22, 95% CI: 1.48 - 12.02) compared to them who did not. Along with that, having a chronic disease, working in non-government and COVID hospitals significantly contributed to poor mental health outcomes. Conclusion The study findings denoted that, the mental health of physicians was deeply affected by the pandemic situation. The availability of appropriate mental health support will help foster resilience by giving them the ability and confidence to manage crisis moments like the COVID-19 pandemic.</p
